Rooftop Gardening guide needed

Hi ,
please guide me with basic ideas that can be helpful for me to set up a rooftop vegetable garden.
I am planning to have a container based planting technique, so it will also be very productive if somebody can suggest cheap and innovative pots' substitute !

you can use fruit crate (peti)
you will find fruit crate (peti) for RS 5.00
