Re: Plumeria 2016
Khan Sahib thank you for introducing such beauties.
I had always visualised Plumeria as a tree requiring a lot of space but now you have shown I can enjoy it as a potted plant keeping it small and manageable.
Now comes the BIG question where to get them?
Arif

Re: Plumeria 2016
Brig Saheb they are wonderful plants. Cuttings can flower first year even in a 12 inch pot. Pots better as blooms can be visualized at eye level if pot is not too large and definitively if it's a dwarf or a miniature variety. If I were to go back I would rather have my plumeria in 14 -18 inch pots compared to the large 24 inch ones I have them in now. All cuttings are going in smaller a pots.
I have seen many varieties in various nurseries in Lahore. If you are not particular about ID then buying them locally shouldn't be a problem. Some of the most common ones are the most fragrant and beautiful. I have seen labeled ones also here in Lahore but unfortunately they were labeled in Thai.
My collection apart from one which I purchased here (Penang Peach) is from the USA. Thailand is plumeria heaven and I'm certain many types can be bought dirt cheap there especially NoIDs.
If you can work with someone in customs many Thailand vendors do sell cuttings online on eBay. A couple of years ago I received 5 cuttings at my door so I ordered more. However the next shipment was held at GPO and the process required too much effort and bribes for release so I just walked out as I was unwilling to comply. Same happened with some precious seeds I purchased from India and Australia.
