i bought my first rose a few months ago .. i have always been scared of roses cuz ive usually seen them with diseases on them and look hard to maintain but when i saw this one i was in love with it ! it reminds me of the painted roses from alice in wonderland !! it doesnt have any fragrance though which is sad . its a climbing rose ive been told ... i would appreciate tips about to to maintain and trim it though.
the cassandra i had put in the ground and is flowering very well and has become quite big !
and the salvia that has come back for yet another season ! it was nice to see the self seeding flower come back along with my favourite blanket flowers :) there were so many of the blanket flower that i gave alot of them to family and friends to enjoy :)

the alamanda has covered half the pergola and blooms with pretty yellow flowers ! the other side is also geen and gives bunches of white flowers which i forgot to take pictures of !! i will take pictures when it blooms next !

the papaya tree is soo tall now and the birds enjoy the fruits cuz its too tall to reach for us !!

next time there will be brighter pictures .. it was a relatively cloudy day when i took these .. apologies !

Beautiful. I like the way you've used Tradescantia. For climbing rose never prune the main stems, just the lateral shoots leaving 2-3 leaf nodes.

thank you .. any suggestions on how to keep it under control cuz the oxalis and ajuga seems to have been disappearing with this next to it and when do i trim the rose ?

another good thing about this rose is that there are no thorns on it !!

Lovely....again, very homy, i like the way you talk about plants as if they are people....:-)

Good to see so much progress. What i forsee is that as the plants have picked up the pace, and there will be no reduction in growth(due mild winter), plants will gradually become overpowering their neighboring plants, this will require diligent pruning and containing.

Generally climbers like other roses are pruned in Winter just before Spring but aggressive ones might need to be pruned in the summer just to keep in check. Best to prune after a flower flush or any time if flowers are not looking good in the heat. If its a soft pink and thornless it might be Zephrine Drouhin.

Yes the fruit you are taking about is "khata"....it wont turn its color and will remain green, though its skin is a little hard which means you can let it ripe a little further.

Interesting thing about this fruit other than health benefits is that as soon as you Cut the fruit you have to eat it instantaneously or its taste will turn bitter :-)
