Basil flavor is destroyed/changed once it starts flowering... it gets a bit bitter, so remove the flower heads as soon as you see them.. plant them in shade to reduce flowering...
That's indeed a great tip of Izhar Sb. Pruning at this time is best and healthy growth of herb plant.

What is the final ? Please clarify.
Hmm...thats why we have scientific names :-)

There are two types of basil, the sweet basil used in food for aromatic purposes in Western foods. It is Ocimum basilicum or Niaz-boo. Its seed are called tukh-malanga and are used in qulfis, falooda etc. You can recall those seeds as black seeds with a white jelly like covering.

Then there is a holy basil, Ocimum sanctum, sanctum in Latin for sacred, which the Hindus consider as holy plant and is probably worshiped. It is called Tulsi in Hindi/ Urdu.

Regards,

Farooq

Sorry for digging out an old topic but are both types of basil edible or only sweet basil(Niaz-Boo)?

Is the other type,Ocimum sanctum bitter? Which type is commonly available here in Pakistan?

We hypothesized that significantly higher concentration of the aromatase inhibitor can be achieved early in the menstrual cycle with faster clearance later in the menstrual cycle with the administration of a high single dose of the aromatase inhibitor early in the menstrual cycle such as on day 3 buy generic cialis online
