Problem with Farooqs posting is that you never know it relates to Pakistan or Canada.

I am sorry for this confusion, but I always write from Pakistan's perspective (hence the reason to keep Pakistan). I don't have any garden here except few indoor plants. The weather is too harsh for any tropical plant. Therefore, consider me as a virtual gardener.

No problem Farooq. I write to everybody as if they are in Pakistan because the forum is called Gardening Pakistan. I just wish I could have seen some of the areas because I cannot get my head around that heat although I always notice how the cricketers perspire when I watch a game from the region.

I am more a winter person than a summer person so I will not make it for long in your region.

I have followed your advice and pulled bark pieces off a tree for Tilandsia.... soaked the bits in water and placed Tilandsia over the bark pieces in the same glass sphere. I'll update here if I see any improvement. I think Tilandsias like moisture in the air. Here the air is ultra-dry and that's why they are not doing very well. I think you would also begin to dislike winter season if it lasts for 8 months. My father had advised that I would be going "directly from an oven (Pak) into a deep freezer (Canada)" and he was totally right :-). Our temperatures can be around 40 oC on hot days and here -40 oC ... even the deep freezers aren't that cold :-(

We have a saying, I am not made of wax that I will melt away or of salt that will dissolve in rains, well we have 8 months of heat and 4 of no heat.
I also love winter, when I am most comfortable playing golf. These days with humidity 40 C is like 56C.
