Re: Common Plant Pest
Very good. If you could also post the affected leaves for each insect. As each insect affects the leave differently. So just by looking at the leaves, one can confirm which pest it is. Specially for following:
green aphids
black winged aphids
broad mites
spider mites
mealy bugs
Most insects cannot be seen by human eye so spots on leave is the only thing which can help identify. also try to find back side of leaves shape in case of each insect.

Aphid damage
Observe stunted growth and leaf curling/distorted leaves at latter stage. Aphid mostly attack new growth and flower buds(sometimes observe them just below buds)
Aphid will not chew the leaves, but will suck all the juices from the leaves making them pale/dull or yellowish.

Fungus Gnats.....Winged Aphids
Winged aphids have small fly like appearance. Generally their presence on the host plant is less and solitary. Maybe also due to their more mobility. Difficult to control. Observe paleness of the plant. Fungus Gnats/Winged aphids can easily be picked up sitting on the topside of leaves. Black in color.

Re: Common Plant Pest & their damage
Thanks for sharing. I was curious about the some insects but didn't know their names especially the loathsome "white grub". Many times henever my potted plants were dying I found this larva in the pots.

Caterpillar Damage
Something you can not miss. caterpillar will straightaway chew the leaves(sometimes stem) in irregular patterns. Damage is very quick and often in single day entire leaf can be gone. They tend to hide in days time. They love to eat flower buds. Appear in late spring and early summer. Infestation is preceded by appearance of small black egg on the host plant. These eggs are numerous in number so easily picked up. Destroying the eggs is the best way to control the caterpillars. Caterpillars will be generally found underside of affected leaves or hidden somewhere close to the base of plant in daytime.
