Gerberas
Growing Gerbera is a rewarding experience which began in 2006. Being fuss free plants they only require a well drained site with sunshine available from morning till noon and then shade and bloom throughout the year and require some protection against mealy bugs in February/March. They come in various shapes and sizes.
Though gerberas can also be grown from seed but their results or the flower size of the local Gerberas do not meet the high standards of tissue culture varieties hybridized by two Dutch companies namely Florist and Schreurs. Almost the entire Gerberas supplied in Pakistan are by Florist through their joint collaboration with Kishore Group based in Bangalore.
After 3 years they can be divided to create additional plants. Many pictures got deleted accidently and hopefully in due course of time shall try to post other pictures.

Beautiful Gergberas,
Yours are in full bloom, mine trying to survive. They are in a well drained bed getting morning sun till noon. In spite of frequent spraying the result is no good.

Re: Gerberas
Sir,
i am very surprised that your Gerbera's are not performing in a well drained bed where they are getting morning sun till noon. Mine are in the same environment and they are planted in an ordinary soil and i have never given them any fertlizer also. Perhaps Sir you may want to consider testing your soil PH and adding leaf mold. Also there is a possibility that slugs might be eating the roots of your Gerbera as slugs are attracted towards Gerbera. Sprinkling of slug pellets might prove to be useful. The only time i have resorted to spraying is when they are attacked by mealy bugs that too around March. Sir, what is the reason for spraying. Are they being attacked by pests or its a precautionary spray against fungus?
Hammad they are usually imported by nurseries two times during the year either in Feb/March or August/September. They tend to sale young tissue culture plants in small pots around Rs 150 and after 5-6 moths when the plant size has grown they sell it around Rs 250-300 after shifting it to a 14 inch pot.
