I like Roses the BIG and bright ones, but was not able to grow them well enough. Year before last I asked Changa to send me two dozen of his best. Last year the performance was not that good, this year those that have survived are doing better. I am learning a lot from Rose lovers of the forum. Now I am getting to know what I want.
Some glimpses of what I have
This rose is with me over 15 years, I love its colour
Arif sb New Year is really on the top of your collection. Not only the color its resistance towards mildew, black spot makes it one one of the greatest rose.plus less thrones & slightly fragrant are also good qualities.its really a hardy rose.
How is it that no one has pointed out that my roses are diseased and I should be spraying them with ?????
Please do not hasitate to point out any irregularity you notice for improving every ones knowledge.
Beautiful roses. I do see two or three pictures with crinkly leaves and some diseased buds. Fighting with disease in roses is an ongoing struggle. I think you should spray Aceta Mepard for aphids and spider mite as well as Bayer's Alliette for black spot, rust and botrytis. If you noticed a plant too diseased then consider removing it. Remove diseased foliage too. I noticing the disease prone roses in my lawn and seems the purple colored ones are the most sensitive to spider mite this year.
Beautiful roses, Sir. No doubt New Year is top of the line.
I am nowadays learning to identify roses though it's a tough ask. I can identify New Year, Showbiz, Abracadabra, Century II in the pics. Can you please mention the names of remaining roses. I would also request Umar bhai and Dr sahib to identify the roses in this thread and others. Thereafter, I will copy the pics to the Rose Database Thread.
regards
Tomorrow or day after I will go to the rose show for my future selection.
Now I know that there are roses for cut flower, roses for garden, roses that are facinating seen individually but have no impact in a garden. I am looking for large roses of the past, not seen any more, roses that make large bushes and are hardy not requiring weekly sprays. Having selected what I like there, I will request the forum friends for final short listing.
Thank you
