First of all you can take it for granted that your soil most probably is alkaline......(most regions of Pakistan)......

The next question is how much saline and is there any significance of it.

In this regard, what i have observed is that most plants will tolerate a wide range of PH and will reasonably perform. Until and unless you plan to grow something which requires highly acidic/alkaline soil. Like Azaleas, which is a bad choice. Restricting yourself to what is available locally across the nurseries, and you will not be disappointed.

Trying to change your soil PH is a long process......however you can do that for a shorter duration by adding lime(acidic soil) or compost/sulfuric acid to saline soil.

Now if you really want to check your PH.....

First method as told by Farooq sb is to try a home made recipe of hibiscus flower.

Secondly you can purchase PH tester from prideseed, Lahore(you can check their website ( its a dual meter with PH and moisture sensor) Price 950

You can alternatively go to agricultural labs across the country(one must be in Multan also) and take your soil sample for testing.

Moreover there are chemical kits available to check this at home also.
