Re: My Collection 2013
i love yellow plumeria fragrance. Reminds me of my childhood in Karachi. But i am shy to grow it thinking that it needs to be reasonably grown to make an impact....is this true???

I guess you are right, I don't remember small yellow champas plants flowering but I still have a pink one and it is doing very well and flowering profusely ever since it was lower than my height.farhan137 wrote:i love yellow plumeria fragrance. Haha good point! Slightly above average. But I think your next shauq should be collecting fragrant tropicals.farhan137 wrote:But some men are taller than others......(dialogue from braveheart movie) :-)

Re: My Collection 2013
I too love plumeria. Khan Saheb it is very common in Lahore especially the white and the red ones. They are almost in constant bloom. In the winter most varieties will loose leaves and come summer they sprout again. Established trees do excellent in Lahore. They require a lot of heat. One variety of my plumeria which I bought last year as a grafted plant from started sprouting just a week ago. So it has to get vey hot for these beauties to start having fun.

Re: My Collection 2013
Yes thats my point they require so much heat.here they will flower in July but the real problem is the killing effect of the frost in the winter.Lahore is slightly warm than Islamabad & Peshawar.at this point our Petunia is at peak blooming & at Lahore it may be ended.Dr sb i usually go to Lahore in DEC the whether is very pleasant there.here at Islamabad in Dec its freezing.so that makes the difference.

I also love Plumeria, few years ago bought the common ones, white and pink from local nurseries. Excitment was not finished here and after this bought few seeds of mix variety. Six seeds germinated, plants are big now and at flowering stage . Now Mr. Adnan shared seeds and have three little plants.
One of my friend has given me variegated one last year. So I have a good collection of this plant.

@farhan: yes, it has a good fragrance which can be sensed from a distance, although other pink´s which i have checked at nurseries and parks don't have such strong fragrance...lucky me
@aykhan: yes sir, i rooted this scentimental myself this season, it was my first try and out of 3 all of them started well but in the end i was able to save 2 of them, i applied my own science and i guess i was very much successful
...
@farooq: I guess you are right, this specimen is barely 3 feet tall and its flowering...and farhan nice quote there from braveheart
@Umar: Sir nothing special, just bought it last monsoon and changed its pot, used to receive 2 hrs sunlight daily, few granules of DAP now and then, was kept under the window shade so that it could be saved from direct frost, it shed majority of its leaves in winter with 4 to 5 remaining and as soon as spring arrived flower buds emerged before new leaves, although it has currently been displaced from its permanent place still its flowering and forming new branches, loved it so much that thinking to transfer it to ground
