Re: shimla problems
Some problems that I am havig:-
1.One problem which I am having is in between the leaves there are small light green spots.
2.The size of the shimla mirch which are harvested are very small.
3.One thing more Does the preparation of the shimla mirch when it first appears till when it is harvested takes long time?

Re: shimla problems
Size of the shimla is reasonable in my opinion. Size of shimla is directly proportional to heat
.....as the mercury will rise further, the size of fruit will drop. Yes is does take a week or so for shimla to be harvest ready.
For spots if you do not observe any pest. hold back on watering a little. Your plant is lush green....indicating healthy growth....spots could be due edema i.e excess watering.
Traditionally it is said that when chillies set fruit. Reduce watering.

Re: shimla problems
I haven't grown Shimla before but the disease is common. Look underneath the leaves and you might see plenty of spider mites/ insects. The problem is that if you spray a pesticide now you shouldn't be eating shimla for at least a month. Or try the reetha extract recipe I mentioned earlier and spray underneath the leaf surface if anything is found underneath.Mustansir Billah wrote:Some problems that I am havig:-

Anyway as long as your Shimla is clean from inside, then the small size is not due to some pest rather due to nutrition or growing conditions.

Re: shimla problems
I have tried less watering but it doesn't seems to work...
The plant still have shimla mirch and are about 2 weeks on the plant but not increasing in size...
How to identify that shimla mirch is ready to harvest?

Re: shimla problems
This is normal response of plant in full sun in summer. Place in partial sun....as pots tend to dry out very quick.
Shimla can be harvested almost at any time of development....ripe or semi ripe, depends what taste you like.

Shimla mirch turns red or yellow when ripe... it starts from green and ripens into either red or yellow.Mustansir Billah wrote:Do Shimla Mirch turns red in color after its total preparation or is red from the start?

Re: shimla problems
Move the container away from direct sun, if the plant stresses out it may or may not produce flowers nor fruit... fertilize with 20:20:20 NPK fertilizer, plucking out shimla mirch will not do any benefit to the plant as the temp's are rising you will notice diminished fruit quality so i will advice to let the plant complete its life journey and pluck the fruits when they are of considerable size and discard the plant in June.Mustansir Billah wrote:So, for that reason I should pluck these shimla mirch out?
