Introduction

Post by Hello1 »

Hello1. An amateur gardner from Karachi. This has been my hobby for over 35 years and my efforts have been both successful and unsuccessful. Have a fair number of containers and also orchids etc. Have recently takeen up growing vegetables in containers. Really enjoyed home grown "torai" and "karela".

Mr. Hammad:I have a small collection of Phalaenopsis, dendrobium and cattleya. I have orchids for the last 15 /20 years. Have some photograph on my hard disk of orchids growing in my garden. However file size is more than the permissable limit. So I don't know what to do. My orchids normally bloom in September. However this year 2 are in flower right now. Had a wonderful "lady's slipper" but sadly it died. When I purchased it was in a bad shape but I nursed it to life. It was priced at $25 but they let me have it for only $5!!

Check if you have "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" installed. Right click n your picture and use the "Open With" function. Click on "Edit Pictures" and use the "compress pictures" function. Press "Okay". That should fix the picture size issue.
Keep in mind to save it with a different name, otherwise the original picture will be LOST.

Further to the brief introduction I gave, would like to add that these days I garden because it is one way of getting close to The Creator and witness His Beauty first hand. This is why I do not employ a "mali". I do my gardening hand on except for trimming the "ficus pumila" which covers three entire walls of my house from top to bottom. Perhaps you have seen the photo of this creeper which I posted earlier in "What Is Blooming In Your Garden."

My "Introduction" seems, in retrospect somewthat sketchy. I failed to mention details of plants in my garden. Well to overcome this, I would now like to add that I have some plants of each of the following: Orchids, Crotons, Palms, Cacti, Succulents, Dieffenbachias, Bougainvillas, Ferns, Waterlilies, Hibiscus, Ficus and a few other assorted species. A Ficus Pumila which covers three walls of my house has become the focal point of my garden alonwith a 20 feet tall potted Ficus Lyrata. So if anyone wishes to exchange notes on any of the above, they are more than welcome.
PS: I have a number of lilies as well, but they refuse to flower.
