Munir Bhai, It was my thought, as to how a fragrant plant should be assessed. It can certainly be improved,The collective suggestions can give us a criteria of assessment.
I agree there are many other factors which have some weight.
Each person has his/her own criteria of Fragrance and beauty
I am happy at least the stone is rolling.

Howabout;
Fragrance = 10 points
Profusion/abundance of blooms = 8 points
Duration/period of blooming = 6 points
Beauty = 4 points
Any other criteria/ with weight-age.

Sir,it is certainly a better formula, but since a poll has been started let us wait for it's result before pitching the list against the other three criteria.
However, I'm not sure if we ll get a fair comparative picture, as most members may have personal experience or knowledge of a limited number of only common plants,thus may not be able to assess the others correctly & may rely on guess work.More weightage will thus have to be given to the opinion of members who know about maximum of these plants.The result of the Poll would at least give a good idea about how to proceed further in this matter. Hope we are not making a simple matter,difficult ? But then, one can't get accurate results from a half-run or slip-shod effort.

Why nobody mentioned Artmesia Powis Castle? Thats one fragrant plant that I cant get enough of. It's cheap, grows easily and has a unique foliage.

It is grown for its foliage and not for fragrance, I never knew it has any fragrance.
