Is anybody growing bulbs of crocosmia and triteilia? I purchased some as a part of group purchase from Angela bulbs in May. I saved both Crocosmia Emily mc can't and triteilia for fall. I planted these bulbs in October and not a single has sprouted.
Has anybody else grown these bulbs? What's your experience?
Growing Bulbs is tricky and not as simple as it seems, if you can tell the following details:
1. Did you plant them in pot or ground ?
2. Did you check the bulb before planting , were they soft or hard or dried ?
3. How you are providing water initially and what is frequency ?
4. can you dig one bulb now and see its condition ?
5. what are the temperatures in your area these days, are night temperatures falling below 15 Celcius ?
1: I planted them in pots
2: yes I checked the bulbs ,they were not very hard ,didn't seem dried or dead
3:I don't water very frequently .i water them after 2 or 3 days when soil is dry
4:I digger. 1 crocosmia bulb out .there was no root growth and the bulb was not juicy and it broke . I think it's dead
5: yes our night temperature drops below 15 C
Yes in paper bags in a cupboard that opens frequently so there is no lack of air circulation.
We have a very humid weather in summers that's why I keep the bulbs in the room where air conditioner is running almost all the day round.so it's a very cold dry place.
