A Doctor's First Step in the Art of Gardening!

Asslamu alaikum!

As I told in my very first post that I'm quite a newborn for the field of gardening, I had no experience of what to plant & what not & specially when. I relied on my Maali. Me & my husband just used to tell him if we wanted any particular plants & he would brought it either in the form of "paneeri" or plants (stem-cuttings?) Here, below, for the first time I'm posting a few pics of my internal lawn (feeling quite embarrassed because ALL of you have got such amazing piece of art masha Allah!!! )

This is one corner of my lawn with waterfall & we have planted Pansies on each side as we wanted flowers which would grow to a limited height both upwards (as flowers) & downwards (as roots). I hope it proves to be a good choice. BUT is it the RIGHT weather for sowing such little baby seedlings of Pansies?? I'm kinda confused over it.





This one is the closer look of my baby Pansy seedlings:





Alongside the waterfall, a Guava tree has been planted. At first it started drying out when first implanted, then my Maali suggested that it's not getting enough water as it seeps outwards towards the side plants. He dig up the soil around the plant & now it's better than before.





Behind this Guava plant is this little LemonGrass. It was suggested to prevent Termite attack on home (is it really so??)





Then comes the BIGGEST pride of my lawn, loq.. Alhamdulillah!!! It's the Tomato plants..






Then comes 3-4 plants of Green Chilli. Flowers are on the way.

P.S. I didn't write the Botanical names for now because I don't know yet.

Beautiful waterfall and sides cleverly utilized.If guava is planted at its side,then i think when grown it will effect the plants under it.The space seems not enough for a guava tree.This best could be used for low height seasonal flowering plants with a perrinial boarder.

Thanks a lot ka_khan sahab. Amm.. Normally how much height does a Guava tree achieve?? Actually I know you are so right about this. We have shortage of space for planting fruit trees but we wanted them so much esp. my mother-in-law. So we just planted them wherever we could get some space.

Your waterfall corner is a special place in your garden for Tropical plants, just add these plants in that corner and feel a great change. Pasny seedling may die because of excessive moisture, soil of pansy bed is extraordinary wet.
Beautiful stone work and it can be made more prominent with the choice of right plants

Thanks a lot Kaleem sahab for your advice. I highly appreciate it. Can you please tell me some Tropical plants as per requirement i.e. which do not achieve too much height? I'm a newbie & don't have much idea about various choices.

Pansy bed appears wet because of the fertilizer my Maali used. :/ May Allah bless my pansy seedlings. Ameen!

Asslamu alaikum everyone!!

Let's start with the very spot where we left.

This is one of the plants which my Maali said would bear Orange. There are 3 more like this, of varying heights.




Here comes Lemon on the other side of waterfall.




Then is my "Raat ke raani" which is already blooming & bears a heavy scent at night!




Alongside the Cestrum nocturnam are plants of Jasmine arabica (Motiya) & Rose. Motiya hasn't bloomed yet while Rose is on the way.






Then there is a twist.. A friend of my hubby gifted him few seedlings which he didn't know himself & my husband asked the Maali to plant them in between the Marigolds. Later the Maali told it's actually Brinjal seedlings. So.... Just imagine the view.

On one side of my lawn there is a kyaari full of blooming Marigolds which cuts the kyaari having Oranges, Guava, Tomatoes & Green Chilli.




Overview of lawn. I know this doesn't look pretty. It's just because I took this photo when my Maali sprinkled the fertilizer all over the place. I promise it's better these days. I'll upload that pic soon insha Allah!
