They are edible maybe because the colored ones are poisonous but let other senior members confirm.

Below are some excerpts from an article on Mushrooms published in 1965.by Mustansir Billah
They are edible maybe because the colored ones are poisonous but let other senior members confirm.
When in doubt, don't?
There a few of the poisonous mushrooms=toadstools in popular parlance-that can produce results as serious as the bite of a rattlesnake. "Mushroom hunters have paid dearly for careless observations and inaccurate identifications," says a leading authority on mycology, Dr. Alexander Smith, an internationally known Mushroom authority at the University of Michigan
When asked if there was any foul proof way of telling edible mushrooms from poisonous species. he replied "No, and its extremely dangerous to guess. To anyone who isn't an expert, i suggest that he limit his mushroom hunting to the shelves of a supermaket."
"There is only one dependable course-learn to know your species," he emphasized. "Verify your identification with a reliable field guide"
Furthermore
"Poisonous varieties are often enticingly attractive to the eye. The coloured ones were highly toxic fly agarics, Amanita muscaria. The was-white creations 'destroying angles', Amanita bisporigera among the deadliest of toadstools-as poisonous mushrooms are sometimes called. Several white Amanitas carry the ominous name "destroying angle".
Most deaths from mushroom eating-six or so occur in the United States every year (1965)-involve Amanita. Destroying angels look appetizing, are even said to taste good, and for hours nothing may happen. Then come violent intestinal seizures, destructions of vital tissues, and usually death in few days.

Thanks Khurram sb for adding the information. It is not worth the risk to self classify mushrooms as edible or not (still worse by comparing from the internet).

That's reassuring to hear. After all we would not want a clip to appear in the paper with a headline.
"18 year old hospitalised in Karachi : The reason : Gardening!!
Turned out he mistakenly ate poisonous mushrooms."
