Hibiscus Dying?

Post by S.Ahmed »

Can anyone tell what is happening with this poor plant. I have already tried spraying it with normal pesticide which I use for other plants and have now even changed its place but it looks like life is being sucked out of it. Other similar hibiscus(not next to it,but in other places around the garden) are healthy and blooming normally.

Now (I have changed its place after this pic was taken):

Yes now I have changed it place and moved it to another place in garden as I thought maybe there must be some soil borne pest which is affecting its roots or something.

The plant is wilting due to transplant shock, the yellowing leaves indicate deficiency of iron. Apply a solution of ferrous sulfate 1 teaspoon diluted in a liter of water every 3rd day if the soil dries out quick if not, apply weekly to correct the problem.

This plant is in a state of shock. Remove all the leaves and don't do anything....
Nothing should be applied until new growth starts appearing.

Actually plant is at the same place(old location) in all 4 pictures. First 2 pics were taken 3 months back while last 2 pic were taken by me during this week, its condition deteriorated at this same spot and now I have changed its location(haven't posted pics of new location). Definitely there is some issue with soil in which this plant was planted because another large flowered pink hibiscus also dried up in similar condition on this same spot and then I had planted this red double hibiscus in its place. Now for time being I am leaving this spot empty until iron deficient in soil improves

These were the plants to its left: (a rose plant, then this unknown small red flowering shrub, then a small motia plant, lemon and then this pink hibiscus. All these seem to be doing fine except for that "cursed" spot.

The burning tips of leaves also indicates that too many chemicals have been sprayed on it. There might be another reason that Motia plant,as I can see in the picture, is too close to hibiscus plant maybe that is stealing its nutrients. If there is no pest than do not spray any pesticide and wait till further improvement...

The last three pics are of single flowered pink hibiscus(which looks ok to me),reason I posted its pic is because its planted just 3 spots on the left from the problematic spot where I previously had double red hibiscus(first 4 pics). How much would ferrous sulfate cost and is it readily available at all chemical shops?
