Okay.. so let me plan an experiment ... i have coco peat, mustard and cotton cake is readily available, manure is also a no problem component... now just have to find out the ratios..hnasir wrote:Interestingly, the only chemicals used are fungicides and insecticides. Otherwise all fertilization and growing media are organic.Izhar wrote:What is the technique of growing these?? it is very impressive i must say...
For growing media, they use a mix which depends heavily on coco-peat, and compost. Additives include all sorts of animal manures, oil cakes, tannery waste, compost tea and what not. Horse and Cow dung are also used in good amounts.

To best of my knowledge the recommended pot size for miniatures is 18 inches and bigger for bigger bushes.
It has to be a special potting soil and feed.

In my opinion there is absolutely no space in the container, after all such a large bush will have even larger root system to support the plant. Therefore with negligible media, it would be growing with external applications of heavy dose of fertilizers. All organic stuff needs to be in large quantity to be able to provide to the plant

Re: Surreal container rose growing.
Farhan, container gardening is a very vast field and the mediums we normally use are unable to sustain plant growth for long... however, there are many specialized mixes which can contribute to growth like the rose picture above... only the components availability becomes the hindrance... plants need nutrients in small amount but the question is the availability of these nutrients at the root hair level.. by using a good planting medium.. use of fertilizer can be minimized to a great extent...

They're components of the potting mix Farhan bhai. What you see is in front of you- I said it is surreal for a reason.
Izhar bhai, I have research coco-peat and it seems it has a lot of salt, so do drain it or something. Cakes are usually available at the people who sell cow/goat feed.
I found this from an Indian rose grower- a bit confusing though:
Fertilizers to Get Big Bloom Flowers
To obtain big bloom flowers of your rose plant:
Mix 1 kg sterameal or any tannery waste manure,1 kg of any oil cake, 500 gm of single superphosphate, 250 gm of potassium, 150 gm magnesium sulfate, 50 gm of iron chelate fertilizer (it is available in different brand names also contains trace elements).
Now if your plants are on beds then apply 100 gm of above mixture in every 6 weeks along a circular canal dug 10 inches away from the base of each plant.
Work out the manure well through the soil with a fork or hand hoe.
Water the plants generously for three consecutive days even if the soil is wet.
If the plants are in pots, then apply 30 gm of above mixture in every 15 days 6 inches away from the base. Water as described above. Remember this watering is very important for best response of the fertilizer.
Regular liquid feed of equal quantity of raw cow dung and oil cake decomposed in an earthen vessel for 7 days.
Mix 1 part of above slurry in 20 times of water.
A few hours prior to the application, water the plants normally.
It can be applied once or twice a week.
In summer it is better not to use any fertilizers.
A dressing of generous farmyard manure is to be applied after pruning.
In large flowered varieties disbudding extra buds and keeping only the terminal bud produces a bigger flower.
In clustered flower varieties, no disbudding is needed.

Re: Surreal container rose growing.
That is why i always put it in bucket of water and let it stand for a day then drain the water, repeating at least two time... i have pet goats so finding cakes is no problem.. common are mustard seed cake and Cotton seed cake...hnasir wrote: Izhar bhai, I have research coco-peat and it seems it has a lot of salt, so do drain it or something.
