Salaam

Seems like you had a good time. Would very much liked to have joined in and seen your garden, alas I am only arriving in Pakistan next week.

I have brought a small variety of odd seeds like Tigrella tomato, red with a yellow stripe, Tromboncino Courgette, white snowy aubergine, extra large French marigold "Colossus". Kiwi fruit solo (doesn't require a separate male pollinator plant) and chocolate cosmos.

Unfortunately as it seems not to be the season for planting bulbs and tubers I have avoided bringing those due to wastage from the dry heat and monsoon periods, explaining things in broken sign language to our old mali who is both deaf and dumb can be extraordinarily inefficient. I cant write very well in Urdu and he doesn't write in English. How do we communicate, I hear you ask???, through the love of plants, experience and knowledge of growing things and the results speak for themselves is my answer

If any experienced members wish to rescue a few seedlings for their own trial purposes they would be welcome. I will check back on the forum once ive settled in around mid week.

. First point;replied in another thread.
. Second point;I wouldn't mind trying them, if you are left with some seeds after meeting your earlier commitments.

Thank you Sir Munir.... for such a pleasant evening.
It was 19th of April, Saturday afternoon at 5Pm, when we were gathered at Sir Munir's home lawn, sun was setting to rise at another part of the world, weather was very pleasant, lash green grass under our feet giving us a feeling of soft velvet carpet, all known species of colorful flowers and fruit trees are around us and their aroma in air making the space more romantic. Beautiful and colorful birds in the corner of the lawn were add in beauty of the Lawn. Away from city noise pollution, it was one of the best maintained Garden I have seen in years.

Just behind this lawn there is a Kitchen Garden, (which is my weakness), you can find almost all seasonal vegetable, salad leaves and herbs there, again it was well maintained and organized so well. Tomato vines are well tied up seven or eight feet high. Grape vine is well climbing on an old wooden ladder. All vegetable beds were weedless. Everything there was so perfect and it seems that it is made for this garden.

In this lovely environment we enjoyed a rich tea, with home made dhai baray, sandwiches, fried chicken and sweet cookies. It was all yummy and wonderful.

The best moment of all this, when Sir Munir gave me two plants of Tomatoes from his garden (Thank you Sir) and Javaid Ashraf Sb gave me a packet of butterfly peas seeds (Thank you Javaid) and Tahir Khan gave me one of cactie plant (Thank you Tahir) I have planted all these at my place , first thing, next morning.

Now after visiting Sir Munir's Garden and KG, when I came back to my place I am asking myself a question, what a mess you have made of your KG Arif ?, Look at Sir Munir's KG and learn from it. So on Sunday I have tried to clear the weeds from my vegetable beds, atleast... :-)))

Thank you so much Sir Munir for your hospitality and love and affection for junior members like me. May Allah you always be Blessed from His unlimited Rehmat... Ameen

I want to thank Sir Munir for hosting such a wondurful evening.Sir Munir has got very beautifully laid out garden with lush green lawn and combination of seasonal and permanent plants.Beside lawn there was portion dedicated to vegetables and fruit trees which had almost all type of veg and fruit tree.Adding more colours to the battlefield was colourful birds caged on one side of the lawn.
We have had discussion on many aspects of common interest, i.e, gardening. For me it was very beneficial to hear from experts, in person.
The hi-tea arranged by Sir Munir was equally good and matching with the standard of garden.
At the end Sir Munir offered few veg and plants which we thankfully accepted (:)). Tahir had also brought succulent for us. Thanks Sir Munir and Tahir for the generous offer.
In the end I once again thank Sir Munir for arranging the get-together and providing an opportunity to meet some of the local members.
I hope we continue to organize such gatherings in future as well.
Javed Ashraf.
