Greenhouse Tips Needed ?

I am planning to have a greenhouse set up on my roof. But there are some problems that I am facing regarding the management of it. Plz give me some quick tips regarding the design and management of it during hot summers !

I just finished a greenhouse on my roof top. I have had two of it's windowsmade so they can open and then the main entrance also opens. In the summer I plan to keep these three openings open, one on each side of the greenhouse. Hopefully this will keep it cool enough so the windows dont crack. Ofcourse you cannot put anything in it in the summer unless you plan to have some way of cooling it. Mine has a metal frame with glass on all sides and the top is a greeh fiberglass.

Any loha guy will make it for you. Ask anyone who made grills or gates for you or anyone in your local market. Then any glass guy will install the glass and any fiberglass guy will place the roof. Usually one person will arrange all of it. The cost will depend on the size of the greenhouse, the quality of glass, the guage of the metal used and the thickness of the fiber roof.

In Lahore or Karachi tnere has to be an opening on the top and an exaust fan. AC would be great in really hot days. Larger green houses with high ceilings are great for summer.

Forget greenhouse on roof for summer. Keep it only for winter. For summer, you must have some strong cooling unit to combat the heat of over 40C.

I made a cheap greenhouse on my roof top myself for winter only. I just used 4 pillars of 6 feet height and wrapped the transparent plastic sheet around them. No loha, no window. And how did i make the pillars, i used 4 large pots filled with soil. Took 6 feet plastic pipes of 2 inches diameter, inserted the pipes into the pots. They are your 4 pillars. Wrap the sheet around them. For opening, there is an extra sheet which i cover and uncover when entering and exiting.

I checked the temperature today 10am inside the greenhouse it was 32C Putting a lot of tropical stuff in it. Cost was around 500 Rs But it you can afford, i am sure Dr Amir would have done it with style

I have a relatively large one which takes care of myadeniums and other imported plants in the winter.It consists of a large iron frame with steel/iron net.I use plastic sheet which is replaced by green net in the summer.
