Re: Garden Log 2014-15
I garden for personal pleasure and the garden is maintained as if it is to be exhibited yet there is absolutely "NONE" physical visitors.
The only place it is shared visually is here, for buddies like Brig Arif.
Your comments have fulfilled my efforts of 6 months. I ask for nothing more and can not be any more happier.

Re: Garden Log 2014-15
Thankyou Izhar...its great to know that it helps. Often i kept it simple, predicting that it might be boring
Indeed gardening without emotions and after thoughts is empty.I will try to be more vivid in future.
I often question a trait of the bulbous plants. Effort vs number of blooms. It is true that a flower is a flower, and the size/number of flowers is meaningless for if someone likes something specific. but on the other hand, i am interested in landscaping, cost vs effect is a prime concern. It never satisfied me, however short while ago i stumbled upon a bearded iris plant, which was fully naturalized, had more than a dozen baby plants/off sets with it, therefore when in bloom, would nullify my perception of limited blooms. I believe here lies the answer. Bulb plants multiple reasonably fast when naturalized, and that is how they grow in nature. Blooming, multiplying(without being separated) and the process goes on and they present a prolific show.
From the above i deduce, that whatever bulb plants naturalize in our environment should not be divided and allowed to produce offsets. If the concern is that they may rot in monsoon/winter etc, then similar conditions, or atleast similar media properties from where they originate must be provided. They will definitely present a good show.
Views please????

here i have tried to replicate the above by planting freesia bulbs very close. This has enabled continued blooms for a longer duration

Fragrant plum in its first year, a gift from Rafique Bhai

Morning glory ensign Red, A gift from Dear Khabbab. Generally morning glories flower in late summers to autumn and are not frost hardy. Unlike, this one has gone through frosty winter both with me and khabbab and bloomed in Spring.....and hopefully will continue further on. Dwarf bushy rambling habit and dainty flower

Better in Gazanias, is this New day mix. Dwarf and neat with showy colors. Will share long shot soom

A heirloom arctotis available locally....very bright

Hamad Kisana help plz for ID of this wallflower like plant

This is Aquilegia Winky, a double flowered columbine. On some other forum, "a member" was claiming to be growing it from seed without any treatment, which is incorrect most probably. Winkies were available in nurseries this year for Rs 50-100 per plant, grown in murree and then distributed in Punjab. I have been through lot of seed sowing, and find columbines and delphiniums to be quite tricky. Columbine because, they require artificial cold stratification, which shortens our growing period, moreover their germination is very erratic. Seeds from Canada
is all i can laugh upon.

Sometimes you are never sure, when a plant has peaked.....and it continues to get better and better
