Its natural, dont worry about it.. petunia flowers fade in 2-3 days and new flowers will take their place, you have planted the established plants and the season is almost over now, for a fuller planted crate you need young seedlings to start with, its a hobby of patience.. also the sun is getting stronger day by day now..

Petunia flower has three days life ,they are hardy and can grow anywhere, mine flowers are also in plastic crates, and bottles as well, as long as drainage hole is there plants like petunia will never mind.

My advice.......For perennial(permanent) plants buy what you like.....that's whats gardening is all about. Wander the nurseries and whatever appeals you go for it..........Karachi's weather is most suitable for plants.......sooner their will be coastal clouds and you will have periods of pleasant weather....water/mulching are some tools with which one can harness weather....Gardening is actually to control the nature in terms of plantation :P......

You can experiment in annuals.....which if taken care in right way might survive long enough in Karachi's climate.......5k is hell of a budget....Generally a seedling pot cost 70-80 Rs (for most annuals and some bargaining skill).....One pot can have from 10-50 plants.....So you can calculate that you can start a nursery of your Own with this amount....lol.....what will matter most is the correct knowledge of taking care of these plants and your personnel Hard work. We have experts like Izhar and Khabbab to guide us just be ready to sweat a little ;-).....And one last thing even the most experienced gardeners kill some plants :-)..be prepared for it.....

These fruit crates are very good for vegges and ornamental both... after a month i.e. in April the ornamental seedlings will be available in most nurseries, try them..

If you are new in gardening , remember few tips:

1. Never assume you will have 100% success, as a beginner if you get a 30% success rate it is normal, with time you will learn and success rate will increase.
2. Do recognize the sunlight and shaddy areas , keep in mind how much time sun reaches your planting areas. It is important and will help to choose plants.
3. Do reognize the temperatures, they are important also for seedlings, many flowers bloom and sprout when they have the right temperatures.
4. Always have an eye on bad insects and never kill good bugs like lady bugs and lizards.
5. Love your plants and don't mindyour dirty hands and clothes for gardening.
6. give water to your plants in the evening , just before sunset so that they have the water for the whole night , never water in morning or have to repeat it in evening.

Remember ! best gardener is the one who grows his own plants, propagates them and enjoy them in low financial cost. kitchen and garden waste are best fertilizers for your garden. Crates, bottles, drums, cans (if you have less space) are better than pots.

Never forget Karachi weather is best for tropical plants like Lillies, Hibiscus, Calladiums, in shade you can grow all indoors, this is the previlage KArachi have on Lahore. For coming summer season annuals like Zinnias, Balsams, Potulaca, sunflower, Vinca are excellent. They will give you a good bloom in Karachi. For Veggies all summer vegs like cucumber, bitter groud, lady finger even melons are best to grow.5K a month is good amount of budget.
