liliums

Hello I wanted to know if liliums can be naturalized to the Lahore weather, last year after my liliums had flowered I uprooted them and kept them all in a 7 inch pot to save for them for next year but the bulbs kinda re sprouted in the summer in the 7 inch pot without any soil medium Some flowered and then all of them died.
However this year when liliums were done flowering I removed them from the containers and planted then in the ground, they have started to re sprout so wondering if this is a sign of naturalization or is this because of the whole out of cycle thing ??

Brig sb once suggested Easter lily can naturalize in Lahore. In high temperature 40c+ these bulbs suffer badly and die. I do not think humidity is major killer for lilium, i think it is temperature. I would love to grow any lilium which naturlizes in lahore. And it is a pity that we are unable to find not even a single lilium which naturalizes in lahore.

Can they be dug up and stored? They are tons of lilium species some must be able to naturalize here. Will try longiflorum and regal lily this year at the very least.

Not at all due to our high temps.naturalize in murree,abbottabad & swat but not in plains.

This post is a follow up, the liliums have started to bloom for the second time in the same season 4 months apart, some are still in the sprouting phase while others are on buds, hope they naturalize going to add a layer of tree bark shavings on the bed to retain the moisture, any other suggestions??

Strange !!! I don't know why would my easter lilies turn up year after year and not naturalize with you.May be my father has a greener thumb.

Ahmad Lillium,s feet needs some shade.plant some annuals which can provide some shade to their base.when you have purchased the bulbs for the first time.have you noted that the bulbs are not hard as other bulbs.if the bulbs get hard lilium never comes to flower.to retain the moisture plant some annuals or do not remove the wild weeds.Ahmad once i loved bulbs but i have lost the interest due to their short blooming time.secondly i developed so much love for roses other flowers do not attract me now.

Will plant some plants to shade the base of the plants soon umar sb thanks and your roses are beautiful, i was wondering if you could make a picture tutorial for budding roses, i tried budding last year from a you tube video with zero success.

Aoa Ahmad, i bud some roses for my self to increase my skill.my father showed me how to graft fruit trees.secondly i used to sit & have gup shup with professinoal nursery men,so they are my teachers.we can gain so many things from nurser men.thirdly i also go to agri stores,i have some very good friends.from their company i learn so many things about pesticides & fertilizers.

True Umar sb the experince you gain from talking to professionals is un doubdtly one of the best source of information you can get but its hard to find time for such healthy conversations plus a photographic tutorial will be a good addition to the knowledge hub section and more ppl members will be willing to experiment with budding roses including me.
